The Wagga Lake Run and Ride is committed to being an inclusive event that welcomes all members of the community. This policy ensures that every participant can compete in a safe, respectful environment that reflects their identity while maintaining the competitive integrity of the event.

• Gender Identification and Registration
  Participants are invited to self-select the gender category that most closely aligns with their internal gender identity at the time of registration. We respect each individual’s right to define their identity and do not require medical or legal documentation for registration. The available categories are:

• • Male
  • Female
  • Other (For those who identify as non-binary, gender diverse, or prefer not to disclose a binary gender).

• Committee Position on Gender Verification
  It is not appropriate or possible for the Organising Committee to request proof or adjudicate on the validity of a person’s gender. As a community event, we do not have the facilities or mandate to evidence stated personal details, such as a participant’s gender, just as we do not ask for evidence of name, age, or postcode. We operate on the basis that results are determined using self-declared information provided in good faith.

• Fair Play and Competitive Integrity
  The Wagga Lake Run and Ride operates on a foundation of mutual respect and sportsmanship. It is a clear expectation of the event that:
  • Gender selection is made in good faith.
  • No participant should gain a competitive advantage through their gender selection.
  • Any concerns regarding the misapplication of this policy will be reviewed by the Organising Committee.

• Awards and Medals
  To ensure fairness in competitive categories:
  • Male & Female Categories: Participants registered as Male or Female are eligible for podium finishes and category medals.
  • Other Category: The ‘Other’ category provides a space for inclusive participation and timed results. However, participants in the ‘Other’ category are not eligible for gender-specific podium medals or trophies.

• Privacy and Support
  All participant data is handled in accordance with privacy laws. We are committed to fostering a culture where all runners and riders feel supported. Harassment or discrimination based on gender identity is not acceptable at the Wagga Lake Run and Ride.
